This weekend, the largest consumer outdoor show in the world, drawing 200,000 attendees over nine days, will begin at the Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg.
The Great American Outdoor Show has been owned and produced by the National Rifle Association of America since 2014, carrying on the longtime traditions of the Eastern Sports and Outdoors Show.
Though the NRA is based in Fairfax, Va., media relations manager Christina Paladeau said the show is held in Pennsylvania for good reason.
“Pennsylvania has one of the highest hunting license sales rates in the country, and nearly 900,000 NRA members live within 300 miles of Harrisburg,” she said. “This venue, the community of passionate hunters and outdoorsmen and women, and the legacy of the show’s tradition here have enabled NRA to grow it from an amazing regional event into a truly national, if not international celebration of the outdoors.”
Last year, attendees came from 47 states.
Paladeau calls it “as pure of an outdoors show as you can find.”
“It’s truly all-encompassing in its display of outdoor products, professionals and activities, boasting 650,000 square feet of exhibition space and more than 1,100 exhibitors filling nine halls with the best in firearms, hunting, fishing, trucks and ATVs, camping, archery…if it’s in the outdoors, it’s here.” more
