(KUTV) – A Utah cyber security expert is responding after a data breach at the John A. Moran Eye Center.
According to the center, a laptop and an external hard drive were stolen from locked storage on April 3. Information from 607 patients, 602 of which were babies, was leaked. The equipment stored patients’ names, dates of birth, retinal images and medical reference numbers.
“We put a significant amount of trust in the hands of other people when we hand over our data,” Neil Wyler, a cyber security researcher said. more
